Can Lewo read my messages?

Not the ones that are end-to-end encrypted: one-to-one chats, groups, private channels, business chats and calls. They are encrypted on your device, and we don't hold the keys. Our servers do see routing metadata, such as who you message and when.

Is everything on Lewo end-to-end encrypted?

No. Public channels, messages to Lewo AI or bots, and public content such as posts, profiles and listings are not end-to-end encrypted. The security page lists exactly what is and isn't.

Is Lewo built on the Signal protocol?

Lewo follows the same design — X3DH key agreement and the Double Ratchet — in its own independent implementation, using the audited @noble cryptography libraries. It does not use the Signal app's library.

How is Lewo free?

Lewo shows ads, which we serve ourselves using limited non-content signals such as device type and coarse region. Ads are never based on your messages, and we don't use your device's advertising ID.

Can I check the encryption myself?

Yes. Lewo's encryption core is open source under GPL-3.0 on GitHub, with its test suite, so you can read the code and run the tests yourself.

Is the website free?

Yes. Every Lewo website starts free, with its own address. Paid plans add more for businesses that need them.

Do my visitors need Lewo?

No. Anyone can open your website in a browser. When they contact you, the message arrives in your Lewo app.

Can I use it for a personal page, not a business?

Yes. A portfolio, a CV or a creator page works just as well as a shop or a service.
